“After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem 2 and asked, \u201cWhere is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.\u201d<\/p>\n

When King Herod heard this he was disturbed, and all Jerusalem with him. When he had called together all the people\u2019s chief priests and teachers of the law, he asked them where the Messiah was to be born.\u00a0 \u201cIn Bethlehem in Judea,\u201d they replied, \u201cfor this is what the prophet has written:<\/p>\n

\u201c\u2018But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; for out of you will come a ruler who will shepherd my people Israel.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Then Herod called the Magi secretly and found out from them the exact time the star had appeared.\u00a0 He sent them to Bethlehem and said, \u201cGo and search carefully for the child. As soon as you find him, report to me, so that I too may go and worship him.\u201d<\/p>\n

After they had heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they had seen when it rose went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was. When they saw the star, they were overjoyed.\u00a0 On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.\u00a0 And having been warned in a dream not to go back to Herod, they returned to their country by another route”<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Life<\/em><\/p>\n

Today the Eastern church celebrates the life of Righteous Juliana<\/a>. She lived in Russia in the 1530’s.\u00a0 She was married and had seven children.\u00a0 She heroically cared for the poor and sick during a terrible famine.\u00a0 After her husband died, she distributed her inheritance to the poor and lived herself in poverty.\u00a0 It is said that when her relics were uncovered in 1614, they smelled of myrrh, and many were healed.<\/p>\n

By your righteous deeds you revealed to the world
\nAn image of the perfect servant of the Lord.
\nBy your fasting, vigil and prayers,
\nYou were inspired in your evangelical life,
\nFeeding the hungry and caring for the poor,
\nNursing the sick and strengthening the weak.
\nNow you stand at the right hand of the Master, Christ,
\nO holy Juliana, interceding for our souls.<\/em><\/p>\n

May his Name remain for ever and be established as long as the sun endures;
