In Isaiah 30, God (through Isaiah) chides His people for wanting to hear only what they want to hear. These are cautionary words for us today as well. They speak so powerfully that I don’t have much commentary to add:<\/p>\n
There are rebellious people, deceitful children,
\nchildren unwilling to listen to the Lord’s instruction.
\nThey say to the seers,
\n“See no more visions!”
\nand to the prophets,
\n“Give us no more visions of what is right!”
\nTell us pleasant things,
\nprophesy illusions.
\nLeave this way,
\nget off this path,
\nand stop confronting us
\nwith the Holy One of Israel!”<\/p>\n. . .<\/p>\n
This is what the Sovereign Lord, the Holy One of Israel, says:
\n“In repentance and rest is your salvation,
\nin quietness and trust is your strength,
\nbut you would have none of it.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/center><\/p>\n
