I just heard the most unintentionally funny radio commercial ever produced. A group called Intelligent Energy is promoting natural gas for home heating in New York. Their toll-free number is 1-877-I’VE-GOT-GAS, and their tag line, sung in that cheery radio commercial style is “Intelligent Energy — I’ve Got Gas.” There’s a big “I’ve Got Gas!” button on their website as well (and, as indicated by the “R” in a circle, “I’ve Got Gas” is a registered trademark). I’m not sure if I’m supposed to redo my home heating or excuse myself from the room and take some Beano.

reminds me of something several years ago – a local utility renamed themselves “energas”, which sounded exactly like “inner gas” when spoken.
The commercial is INTENTIONALLY funny. What makes me laugh is the fact that you think this commercial made to the radio without someone at the company realizing people will think of a fart joke when they hear it.
Fartman — maybe you’re right — but then it’s an incredibly dry attempt at irony. If you listen to the commercial, and look at the company’s website, there’s no indication at all that it’s intended to be funny.
Everytime I hear this on the radio, I can’t believe it. And I hear it at least once a day…and what gets me is the pause between “I’ve…” and “got GAS!” Plus, the lady sounds SO triumphant that it’s just always hilarious. Oh boy…
